The Axel Adler Scholarship offers fee-paying students the opportunity to receive a scholarship for obtaining a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, with entry autumn semester 2020.
The scholarship is divided into two groups, the first one is for our Master of Arts and Master of Science programmes and also including our Bachelor’s programme in software engineering. Our ambition is to be able to award one recipient for each programme – around 60 recipients.
The other one is for our Master’s Programmes within the Fine, Applied and Performing Arts. Our ambition is to be able to award around 4–12 recipients, since the tuition fee is higher for these programmes.
Who is eligible to apply?
You are eligible to apply for the scholarship if you meet the criteria listed below:
- You are liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities (a citizen of a country outside of EU/EEA and Switzerland).
- You have applied for any of our Master’s programmes, full-time studies, or if you have applied for the Bachleor’s program in software engineering, full-time studies. You must have made your application by 15 January 2020, through www.universityadmissions.se.
- You have paid the application fee and documented your eligibility for studies by 3 February 2020.
- Only applicants with a University of Gothenburg programme as their priority 1 at www.universityadmissions.se.
How do you apply?
Only applicants with a University of Gothenburg programme as their priority 1 are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Eligible students will receive an e-mail with application instructions by the 7 February 2020. If you are an eligible student and have not received an e-mail, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you have registered at www.universityadmissions.se.
CV and Letter of Motivation
If you are applying for a scholarship on a Master’s level, submitting a CV and Letter of Motivation will increase your chances of being selected for a scholarship. There are no specific templates that you have to use for your CV or Letter of Motivation.
The CV and Letter of Motivation should be submitted via your account at www.universityadmissions.se under the ‘Other documents’ category. If you have already uploaded a CV and a Letter of Motivation for the programme of your interest, that will be enough for the scholarship as well.
If you are applying for a scholarship for the Bachelor’s programme in software engineering, you do not need to submit a CV or a Letter of Motivation.
Academic staff make the assessment and ranking. They will have access to your academic merits, portfolio (if applicable), CV and Letter of Motivation in order to assess your suitability for the programme as well as your commitment and desire to study. An offer will be sent out to students that are selected for a scholarship shortly after the admissions results are published on 3 April 2020 for Master’s programmes or on 20 April 2020 for Bachelor’s programmes. The students that will receive an offer have to reply back in one week to receive the final decision.
Please note that it is not possible to combine The Axel Adler Scholarship (TAAS) with another scholarship offer from the University of Gothenburg or the Swedish Institute. If you are offered a scholarship by the Swedish Institute, The Richard C. Malmsten Memorial Foundation Scholarship or The Volvo Group Scholarship, your application for The Axel Adler Scholarship (TAAS) will automatically be removed from the selection process. If you decide to decline other scholarship offers, in favor of The Axel Adler Scholarship (TAAS), you are free to do so, but please let us know.
